Sacramento River Train & RR Museum

Sacramento West / Old Town KOA

Apr. 24-27, 2009

On Friday, October 24th 13 RVs pulled into the Sacramento West KOA intent on a good time of railroading fun.  Happy Hour in the clubhouse afforded us time to get re-acquainted and meet new friends.  The potluck dinner followed and was enjoyed by all.

The hot breakfast, with Don Bunn's specialty (Spam!) was a hit and started the day out right.  A meeting was held after everyone was full and happy (Good thinking, Conductor Tom!).  New ideas were put forth for future outings.  Details will follow in the newsletter. A special docent-led tour of the Railroad Museum took place in  the afternoon and even though many had been there before there were lots of new stories and information shared by our docent.  More good eating followed with Eloisa Bunn's yummy Chicken Chile Stew for dinner.

After continental breakfast on Sunday we caravanned to Woodland to board the Brunch Train. The consensus was that it was one of our best Brunch Train rides.  We were in a nice dining car (big windows), the food was great and lots of champagne.  What more could we ask for!?

Another wonderful Golden Spike outing ended with Happy Hour and hearty finger food that evening and more in the morning and then "adios" as we said our "good-byes" and headed down the highway.
